Today at work I found out I have a new supervisor. Instead of Stephanie, Angela I like Stephanie a lot more than Angela because Stephanie has never been out of control around me. But whatever. "Life" goes on and on and on It sounds like your new supervisor is not as understanding as your ...

Has anyone on the autism spectrum felt or feel now that they are being pushed out by their employers? I believe this is one of the most common issues with autism and mainstream employers and it can cause anxiety for the individual because they have to figure out what’s going on. I have been called o...

Yeah, I am. Which is odd because I normally really look forward to it. I like the music and the lights and the food and the sense that there's nothing else you should be doing. It's one of the few times I relax. But I'm not ready for it I've got too much other stuff on my mind. And there's no money...

Does anyone dread Christmas because of the chaos on Christmas Day with being pushed to play games with your family? Having to take turns with presents and show respect to everyone? It’s exhausting! It’s like you have to pretend to be neurotypical in front of your own family.

Anyone relate to this?

I feel exactly the same way. I don’t have that many friends either. And when I see other people like me or NTs or just people I general getting more attention have being more successful or getting preferential treatment I get bitterly jealous because I feel left out. When I am with someone or like s...

Yes that has happened in my current and past jobs. I have had one supervisor telling me my faults one day and the following day it’s forgotten about and says nothing more. I find stuff like this very confusing.

Does anyone else apart from me feel they have to mask at work in order to fit in and keep their jobs? Even though I disclosed my autism 4 years ago to my current job now I still feel like a burden and in order not to face consequences and get the sack and earn money I have to pretend to be someone e...

Yes, this is very common. We often end up working on holidays and weekends. And this leads to bosses expected to cover for them whenever they make mistakes! I think all we can do is do our best and look for better situations. I got tired of my boss messing up and expecting me to cover for him so I ...

I wouldn’t say it’s weird. All that matters is that you are comfortable with it. Just bear in mind that they are people that are trustworthy and think about what kind of people they are as online friends are sometimes not always who you think they are so just be a bit careful. Otherwise go for it.

Sadly, autistic employees being taken advantage of by bosses is all too common. And if you complain they will usually backstab you and put it down to your disorder, the very disorder that makes you a good employee in many cases. This is what upsets me the most. The autistic employee being gaslighte...

So this Sunday I am supposed to be going out for a surprise for my 30th birthday with family and friends. So I asked for a day off and my line manager said she would fill in a form for me. I only found out that I miscommunicated with her as she has roted me in that day. I put a request on the work g...

I can struggle to communicate at work too. I am a housekeeper in a hotel and I struggle to keep up the pace at times. They know I have autism but I keep getting asked why I always go over my end time. I know they are doing their job and they don't want trouble. My mind just spins when I try to think...

Hello. It's been quite a while since I last posted on Wrong Planet but I thought I may update everyone on what has happened since I last posted. My last post was about my anxiety of getting fired. I had a meltdown the day before my mums surgery. I told my colleague in tears that I was worried I was ...

One of the lessons I learned in life was about criticism. When I was growing up I was subjected to severe bullying. I learned to reject any comment they made about me. As an adult I tended to reject all types of criticism because I felt it was a personal attack against me. As I matured, I learned t...

How is the situation working out for you? Yesterday the hotel manager and I had a little review and we agreed a plan for her and the rest of the management team to support with things that I may be struggling with. So maybe I am not going to get fired after all. But I won't hold my breath. However,...
