I am having quite a dilemma lately in therapy. My therapist believes I need to openly express my emotions to others, as oftentimes I do not have much of a physical reaction to anything, even if very emotional. He thinks it will help my anxiety and depression as well as connecting with others, but I ...

Just got back from my final diagnostic appointment. After many months of wondering whether I am autistic or not, I was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. At least I can finally get some school accomodations! Thanks to everyone here who has helped me learn more about ASD.

Recently, I have finished up testing for an Autism diagnosis and am awaiting an official prognosis. At the end of the session, the evaluator suggested possible ABA therapy for my attention problems at school. I've heard ABA therapy is harmful for autistic individuals, but I don't know how much the e...

After many months of waiting for an appointment I finally got one scheduled for next month. I'm really glad but also really nervous and kind of going insane with documenting my traits. If anyone has any information on the procedure or tests or what to expect, I'd be interested.

In my experience special interests find me. That's very true, perhaps I'm trying too hard. How about climate change? You'll spend the rest of your life coping with it. Try to do what George or John would do in your place. I heard about Peak Oil in 1957, and planned my life accordingly. That sounds ...

I don't care about height. I actually prefer if they were shorter, but I imagine that would be hard considering how tall I am.

Maybe strength training? Learning the function and pathway of every muscle and putting it into practice can be fascinating and rewarding. It's also great for ADHD in my experience. I wish I could get interested in exercising. I'm only doing a bare minimum cardio routine but I'll look into it. I wou...

Do you play an instrument? Whether you do or, or not you can just build upon the Beatles to explore music in general. Either as a listener, or as performer. You apparently like George Harrison even when he was in his Eastern phase (I do to). The Beatles had many branches and roots. They explored no...

As much as I enjoy and still enjoy my special interest in the Beatles, I feel like there's not much else I can do with it. There's only so many times I can go over the same story and trivia. I'm wanting to find a new interest but I have no idea where to start or what I like. I find it difficult to s...

Avoiding facebook is not an Aspie thing. I know many NTs who detest it. I have a facebook but only to connect to my game accounts so I can save progress, never used it for anything else.

I recently obtained the book "The Autism Revolution" by Karen Weintraub and Martha Herbert. I only got into the first few chapters before putting it down. I don't know much about the science behind what she's talking about, but I thought it was incredibly ableist. She shared a story of a ...

Hi, welcome to WrongPlanet. It may be a big shock to learn this about yourself, but you shouldn't feel ashamed. Autism isn't a bad thing, it's just an explanation for the behaviors that you already have. It's unfortunate that other feel it's negative.
