Despite my age, I still live with my parents. I only have an entry-level job. I saw a Facebook post from an (NT) friend that I had in school who just got married and bought a house. The pictures showed a brand-new house under construction. That triggered me. I felt if I was NT I could have things l... |

The issue is one of personal choice. Some people however want to impose their own demands on others which is wrong. I've always been critical of those in the ND movement who wish to ban the idea of curing autism and the idea of treating autism. Likewise claiming everyone with autism should want a c... |

Don’t I need a mask to live a normal life? Someday, I would like the typical American dream of a house in the suburbs and a new car in the driveway. One of my interests is making and saving money Some degree of masking is probably not a problem, just realize that it is a trade off of your health fo... |

I cannot just stand on the floor. Anything lying on the floor, old shoes, bags of stuff, pillows, piles of clothes, cat toys, I'm always standing on it (unless it's breakable). If I'm outside I stand on big rocks or tree stumps. Sometimes I'll stand with one foot on a piece of furniture. This drive... |

Hi, I'm 25 and was diagnosed Aspergers at age 6. I resent my diagnosis. I don't like labels. I want to hide it and I want to learn how to mask. Can someone give me instructions on how to do so? I would like to mainly learn how to mimic other people. No, you probably don't, I mean you may think you ... |

Recently I noticed a lot of discussion online around the "validity" of self-diagnosis and I think a lot of the anti-self diagnosis points are boiled down to this overlap and understanding of similar experiences across different disorders. Differential diagnosis is an important thing to ke... |

How do you manage to sit at a desk, sit in front of a computer and work on something for hours, without any breaks? I'm asking this to adhd guys. I have an iq of 148 but can't do anything because of this problem. Why do you need to work on something for hours without breaks? I'm in a similar positi... |

I've been looking for a job the past 8 months. I've filled out a lot of applications and l've only had 6 interviews and one job offer. I declined it because they would've started me at minimum wage, that's $12.00 in my state. Most people I know in my field make $19 per hour by the time they are at ... |

This is a controversial opinion but I have been wanting to share my thoughts for a while: People are allowed to like HP, as long as they don't agree with JK. And people can buy merch secondhand so they don't give her money. No I know! I'm not shaming anyone who likes the series (it was my special i... |

Bandages for your feet in case you get blisters. Shoes you can kick off if they get wet on the water rides. Extra socks if you wear socks rather than sandals. I got some really good water shoes before I went. They're more or less shoes that are incredibly breathable with plenty of holes to let the ... |

Discussions about civil rights and social issues always place emphasis on how non-white and LGBTQ+ communities are disproportionately affected. But autistic people are almost always excluded. It is not my intent to any way to try to take anything away from what any marginalized group, but my concer... |

The policy changes only affect those requesting specific accommodations through DAS, so if you don't need the DAS accommodations nothing has changed. Those things should be fine, although I personally just bought a bottle at the parks and refilled that. I personally brought earplugs, sunglasses and... |

So i'm going to Disney's Animal Kingdom in spring with a group. I know of disneys policies and accommodations but is there anything I should be mindful of? I plan on bringing my ear defenders, a water bottle, and a few sensory toys if I get overstimmed. I also plan on bringing a LOT of money becaus... |

All you have to do is follow The Rules , and you will experience no actions against you from our mods. They're a decent bunch here. I haven't seen any mods here abusing their powers here. Personally, if I'm on a forum where the mods are abusing their powers, or at least using them in ways that do... |

During my early childhood in the early Sixties a lot of the content of children's TV was Hollywood comedy from the 1930s. Like the Our Gang comedies, and the Three Stooges. I remember our teacher announcing one day that we "recommend that you stop watching the Three Stooges on TV" because... |
