Its "shore up". Like reinforcing the levees on the shore of a river.

Not "sure up".

Though you're not alone in mishearing the actual expression and thinking that its "sure up".

But either way...thats what the governor is doing.

The First World War started when someone shot an Archduke. ignited the powder keg of Europe.

The president of Iran just ...went down in a helicopter crash! The Middle East is nothing if not a powder keg.

I am sure someone in Iran is blaming Israel for it. And you're right ...couldnt be at a worse time. Israel and Iran just got through shooting drones and rockets at each other. And the Iranian president had more international enemies than...Mr. Body...in the game of Clue! Lol! Israel, The US, Saudi A...

The president of Iran was being transported, along with other dignitaries, in a helicopter visiting a border area of Iran when the copter experienced a "hard landing" in bad weather ...in what apparently is a remote area. How "hard" the landing was...and whether or not it left hi...

Hmmmm... That isnt too bad actually. As humor, and as a replication of Sienfeld's particular style of humor, its not far off the mark. As an exposition on autism...its flawed (an autistic who monologues about Shakespeare, or about Looney Tunes Cartoons, is ALSO likely to forget where they "park...

I don't believe that every argument that could be used to question Israel's legitimacy is used with that intent, but the fact that it seems to be a very tender point for those who sympathize with the Israeli right shows that they themselves understand that it's not an entirely invalid angle. Those ...

With the rise of the far right globally, I would prefer you didn't research this, regardless of what truth there may be. They will label us as "cavemen" and have as removed from the gene pool. If you do continue, brand it differently, just refer to genetic sequences and don't say Neandert...

Yes. Even Hitler wasnt "as bad as Hitler" until nine years after he took power in 1933. It wasnt until 1942 that Hitler actually sat down with the board of directors and planned the logistics of the Holocaust. On the other hand folks do go into hyperbole. A certain member of WP active year...

There is no single cause; it's insanely complicated and often multifactorial. But this is a subset of susceptibility factors that are playing a role in a wide range of folks' autism, which we happened to have inherited from hybridization from Neanderthals. Can you explain why some Aboriginals, Asia...

The above track credited to "the Cramps" was actually collected by the members of the Cramps onto a compilation album by their fav predecessors.

The actual performers were the Sixties band "the Ventures".

If it moved that fast it wouldnt stay in orbit. And would go flying off into interstellar space because that would be more than "escape velocity" from the gravity of any star. Maybe you could orbit VERY CLOSE to a black hole at that speed and stay in orbit. But you would be torn apart by t...

But even back in the day madison ave measured cigarettes in metric. Regular non filter Lucky Strikes and Camels were 70 MM. King Sized cigarettes were 85 mm. Then in the late Sixties Benson and Hedges introduced the 100 mm cigarette. https://youtu.be/YVsDeNN1MaE https://youtu.be/YVsDeNN1MaE Then a c...

That is curious. The U.S. always had money that was ...essentially...metric in concept since we broke from Britain and their cumbersome system of money. But then Britain switched from Imperial to metric in everything else like over night. And we still use their imperial system.

Not impossible. But hard to prove. Or to disprove. Autism is probably mostly genetic. But its not like hemophelia, or sickle cell anemia. A descrete simple condition caused by one, or a few, genes, that can be easily tracked back to ancestors. Sickle cell, for example, is easily traceable to having ...

The biggest issue IMHO is that in that region up until recently they were only diagnosing those with severe Autism, in Croatia only in the last 10 years is it possible to get a diagnosis of high-functioning autism. There are centres for Autism, but they are for those what they call these days level ...
