What's the last weirdest dream you had?
It's a beautiful thought, but I fear Sauron wouldn't have reciprocated the gesture and that the consequences would have been dire for the righteous. But after I'd read The Hobbit to my son, he had a dream in which the evil dragon Smaug hadn't been killed, and was giving rides to children.
Well there is at least one video game I'm aware of where the orcs are not so evil and you can even choose to play as them. That would be The Elder Scrolls games.

If I were an Orc in such a game, I'd not break character like that. I'd be evil to the core. I'd find it extremely refreshing to ditch all those inhibitions and let Mr. Hyde breathe in an environment in which no real harm could be done. I should probably take up a really competitive game in which I could do that. In real life it's hard to find incorrigible sociopaths to thrash into pulp. Note the tacit assumption that I'd win.

Well in The Elder Scrolls games the orc race had their flaws too (and so did the human races and even the elves too).
That's what I loved about The Elder Scrolls take on the fantasy races was that there was no truly "good" nor "evil" race. And your chosen character could be a hero or a villain depending on how you play
Personally when I made an orc character in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion I made one under the Knight class and he was an orc who wanted to prove to the world that orcs could be something more than ugly ferocious "monsters", that they could also fight for good and be noble and heart and spirit.
Also I should mentiom a lot of the races in The Elder Scrolls are particularly racist against the orcs, which I think reflects on racism in real life.
Anyways looking back on my noble Orc Knight who served the Empire loyally. In a way he was kind of like the real life African samurai Yasuke who would have been regarded as a mere slave or a "savage" to the Europeans and Americans but to the Japanese at that time he was regarded as an exotic curiosity and became the first outsider to be given the title of Samurai and was treated with honor and respect by Japan's Emperor.
It's a really fascinating story imo and they even made an anime about Yasuke on Netflix.

France produced its share of Popes over the last two millenia.
And there was even a period in the middle ages when there were both Popes and "antipopes" ...a rival papacy operated out of Avignon in southern France in defiance of the one in Rome (kinda like how the US had two Presidents:Lincoln and Jeff Davis at the same time).
So "French Popes" and even a French antipapacy were actual things.
So I googled "the Samuels".
This is all I found.

A singing group having nothing to do with French nor Papal history. But they do sing religious music. So its not completely unrelated .

Fwiw JD never claimed to be the US President, only the president of the CSA. It's not like if the south won everyone would be speaking with a drawl.

I was looking down at a vinyl album I'd just purchased. The centre part said it was by John Lennon. It had two songs. The first one was 15:44 long, and called "The Transcendental Song". The gimmick was that it was totally silent. You were supposed to play the album and meditate in silence for 15:44, while waiting for the second song to start.
It was hugely successful and everyone loved the idea. I didn't play it in the dream but I thought it was a cool idea.

In real life some rock bands have had stretches of silence listed as "songs". And not only THAT some of the said bands have sued each other for copyright enfringment for stealing the idea of dead air!

That sounds like the kind of thing John Lennon would have done, though it wouldn't have been all that popular. But I once read it had been done by Spike Milligan as a joke, on the B side of a single. I wonder what it sounded like?

Anybody got a link to any of those recordings? I've been told of several instances but it's as if their existence has been surgically removed from the public domain.
This gets close, but IMO the performer spoils it by making noises that drown out the music:

Back on topic, I had this dream last night:
I was taking my baby son somewhere. I very nearly dropped him and I saw that he could have been seriously harmed. It was a near miss. At the destination he was being looked after by some people there in a room who were childminding for the other adults. He was in a tank of water that was set at about 10 degrees colder than he was, in an attempt to cool him down because his temperature was too hot. Feeling that it might chill him down too much, which I thought was unsafe, I instructed them to raise the water temperature to just one degree below his current body temperature.
I was in a larger room in the same building with a number of other people, socialising. I began to adeptly engage in a remarkably witty rapport with a woman. We left the building together, drove away, and continued our rapid, witty exchanges for some time. Eventually we agreed that we should end our association because it wasn't ethical of us to behave that way.
It's superficially quite weird, but I think I understand its symbolic meaning. Only it would have been much more relevent if I'd dreamed it when my son was much younger than he is now.
Ah, here we are:

It seems John Lennon did make a recording or two of silence, so Izzie's dream wasn't so odd after all. If she can prove she couldn't have been aware of those tracks, we have evidence of the paranormal.
Ha! Thanks everyone. I had no idea that silent recordings were already a thing. Leave it to John to call it "The Transcendental Song", though. It should have been "Transcendental Void".
^^^ @ToughDiamond - Nope, I'd never heard of it. Pun intended.
